We have constructed new lawn beam graves in Werribee Cemetery's Lawn 1A and Lawn 2B areas.
These graves are set in rows within tranquil lawns and can be memorialised with a granite desktop-shaped base and a bronze plaque.
The bronze plaque size will be 560mm x 300mm. The base and bronze plaque are additional costs and not included in the price.
Each lawn beam grave can accommodate two interments.
How much will the ROI cost?
Cemetery fees are determined according to a cost-recovery model, which accounts for the cost of the grave or memorial, as well as Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust's (GMCT) perpetual maintenance obligations.
The fees charged for rights of interment at GMCT cemeteries help ensure GMCT can maintain each of the cemeteries it is responsible for in perpetuity. The perpetual maintenance obligations of Class A cemetery trusts are outlined in the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2003 (Vic).
Fees outlined here will be approved by the Department of Health through a formal process. Details of the process can be found on the Vic Health website.
Right of interment
As per government guidelines for setting cemetery fees and charges, GMCT is seeking feedback on the proposed pricing for these new lawn beam graves.
The proposed pricing for the right of interment is as follows:
Lawn beam grave (two interments) $8,000
