Creating Space for Grief
Melbourne City Mission Palliative Care (MCMPC) and the Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust (GMCT) are proud to present this collaborative, creative event to support bereaved people in our communities.
Creating Space for Grief is a special afternoon dedicated to those who are grieving the death of a loved one. In these 2 hours together we will explore creative ways to honour and memorialise your loved one. We will be using some simple craft and art, share stories about them and be with others who are also grieving.
All the ideas and materials will be available for a range of activities, and you’ll be able to take home some pieces to treasure and remember your loved ones by. It will be a gentle, supportive and playful experience.
What to expect:
The afternoon will involve hands on activities for people of all ages (from 7yo and up). This is family friendly event in the school holidays. All children under 18 need to be accompanied and supported by a parent or guardian.
The afternoon will be facilitated by bereavement counsellors and volunteers, who have a background in expressive arts and grief support.
What to bring:
All craft equipment and resources will be supplied. You won’t need any prior art or craft skills – just an open mind and a willingness to explore! You may get a bit messy, so we recommend wearing casual clothes.
We welcome you to bring a photo of your loved one which you are prepared to use in the memory making activities.
