Pricing Consultation for new lawn beam graves and a memorial garden at Yarra Glen Cemetery

Consultation has concluded

The Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust (GMCT) has constructed new beam lawn graves a memorial garden for the memorialisation of ashes (cremated remains) at Yarra Glen Cemetery.

Lawn grave with granite desktop base with plaque

These graves are set in rows on tranquil lawns and memorialised with a granite desktop shaped base. A bronze plaque will be placed on the base and a vase holder for flowers is at the top of the base.

Lawn grave with plaque

These graves are also set in rows in tranquil lawns and memorialised with a bronze plaque.

Each lawn grave can accommodate two interments.

Memorial garden

Memorial gardens at our cemeteries and memorial parks are looked after by a team of dedicated horticulturists.

Ashes are placed in a container in the memorial garden bed and a bronze plaque will be placed next to the ashes. The plaque will be an additional cost.

How much will the ROI cost?

Cemetery fees are determined according to a cost-recovery model, which accounts for the cost of the grave or memorial, as well as GMCT’s perpetual maintenance obligations.

The fees charged for rights of interment at GMCT cemeteries help ensure GMCT can maintain each of the cemeteries it is responsible for in perpetuity. The perpetual maintenance obligations of Class A cemetery trusts are outlined in the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2003 (Vic).

Fees outlined here will be approved by the Department of Health through a formal process. Details of the process can be found on the Vic Health website.
