First memorial options completed

1 April 2026

The River Red Gum Stage 2 (Phase 1) project at Northern Memorial Park has reached an important milestone, with significant progress now visible across the development. Residents and visitors will soon see new landscaped areas taking shape as we move into the next phase of works.

More than 250 new monumental plots at the rear of the River Red Gum Stage 2 (Phase 1) project have now been completed. This marks a major step forward in expanding burial options and delivering thoughtfully designed spaces within Northern Memorial Park.

Landscaping elements, including planting, furniture, signage, and taps, will be installed in the coming months.

What’s coming up

Work continues in the first phase areas, bringing us another step closer to delivering a high‑quality, landscaped community space for families and visitors. We expect this section to be completed and open to the public from July 2026, and it will include:

  • Roads, car parks and pathways
  • 1,638 monumental plots in addition to those already completed.
  • Landscaping and trees

Minimising construction impacts

Throughout construction, we are continuing to prioritise the comfort and safety of nearby residents and visitors. Dust and noise reduction mitigation strategies continue. They include:

  • a dedicated water truck operating to suppress dust
  • daily monitoring of weather and air quality
  • ongoing communication with the contractor to ensure impacts are kept to a minimum

These measures are being adopted to ensure that GMCT is doing everything in its control to reduce potential impacts caused by the construction and maintain a safe environment across the site.
