Progress Update: Actions to Reduce Dust and Disruption

1 June 2026

We are progressing a range of actions in response to feedback from Andrew Street residents following recent discussions with Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust (GMCT).

Additional funding has been approved to remove the remaining soil stockpile near the residential boundary, with works expected to commence in June and take approximately four months. While this will temporarily increase on-site activity, it is expected to significantly improve dust conditions over the longer term. Enhanced dust mitigation measures will be in place throughout.

Other improvements underway include:

  • Relocation of the air quality monitor closer to the stockpile
  • Review of the residential boundary fence design, subject to Melbourne Water's approval
  • Repairs to damaged Northern Memorial Park boundary fencing and proposed upgrades to site security
  • Changes to truck movements to reduce impacts on local streets
  • Tree and shrub planting along the southern boundary to improve screening over time

We thank residents for their ongoing patience as these works are delivered and remain committed to minimising impacts where possible.
