Progress made on the Werribee Mausoleum extension

12 December 2025

Since construction began in October, the Werribee Mausoleum precinct has been transformed. We’re well on our way to creating a beautiful and peaceful space for families in Melbourne’s west.

What’s been happening on site?

  • Foundations underway: Footing excavation and bored piers are complete, and the team has started pouring the concrete beams that will form the foundations.
  • Mausoleum slab coming soon: Weather permitting, the concrete slab for the Mausoleum extension will be poured before Christmas.
  • New amenities connection: A new toilet sewer connection is being installed to support the development of new amenities at Werribee Cemetery.
  • Holiday break: The builder will return to site on 7 January 2026 to continue work.

Looking ahead

Early next year, you’ll notice more visible changes as the structure begins to take shape. The extension is expected to be completed by October 2026, adding more than 200 crypts for families in the region. The surrounding area will feature:

  • Beautiful new landscaping
  • Sheltered spaces for reflection and comfort
  • A new pedestrian entrance from Railway Avenue
