Site name consultation update

The Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust (GMCT) recently completed consultation on the proposed site name, ‘Harkness Memorial Park’, for our new development located in Harkness. Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey and shared their feedback.

We received 123 responses, with 64.2% of participants supporting the proposed name. After carefully considering all feedback alongside Victoria’s official place naming rules, we have responded to each participant and are now preparing a formal naming proposal for the Department of Health. This includes a report outlining the de-identified feedback we received.  

If ‘Harkness Memorial Park’ is approved, the name will be submitted to the Registrar of Geographic Names for consideration and inclusion in VICNAMES.
